The Varsity Competitive Cheer team competes at a Home Invite.

Wyandotte Cheer has placed high in many of their competitions and invites such as the big DeltaPlex cheerleading invitational this season and is hoping to finish their season strong.
“This season has gone better than any season we’ve had before.” Sophomore Summer Gregoria said.
The team placed eighth out of 18 teams at DeltaPlex. The cheer team has had nine invites so far since the start of the season in January and has placed as high as first in all of them despite mixed competition. With the district championship coming up soon, the team is excited to start their path to a state title, which is their season goal.
“We have to work hard these next few days at practice and power through everything we can do and make all the changes we need with little mistakes,” junior Mariah Vargas said.
Wyandotte cheer has shown improvement this season compared to recent years.
“I feel like this is one of our strongest teams,” Senior Bella Cappuccilli said. “We built during the sideline season and it was just a bunch of people put together that didn’t really know each other and through sideline we got to know each other and I feel like that kind of helped us.”
At Delta Plex they ran into some tough competition as they work to prepare for districts. Anchor bay and Lance Crews North were their biggest competitors at the event.
“Lance Crews North is a bigger competition for us because they are closer in scores,” Vargas said. “We beat them Friday but we have not beat them any other time before then.”
The cheer team went on to take 4th place at districts and will compete at the regional on February 26 where they will take on teams like Woodhaven, Rochester, Stony Creek, and Troy-Athens.
