Senior Robert Passuth swims the butterfly event during a meet. Passuth was one of two individuals that qualified for states.

Five swimmers will compete at the state meet on March 11 and 12 at Oakland University.
“When I qualified for states, I was rushed with joy,” junior Jose Hinojosa said. “We weren’t exactly expecting to make it in the 200 medley so we were very, very excited about that.”
Swimmers who will compete at states include juniors Jose Hinojosa, Riley Greene, Caden Suave, Chris Gervasi, and Alex Kulchar.
“We were all just so excited to qualify,” Hinojosa said. “Honestly, I think most of us were hoping to qualify but also weren’t exactly expecting it.”
The events that the team will be bringing to the meet include the 200 free relay with Greene, Suave, Hinojosa, and Kulchar and the 200 medley relay with Greene, Gervasi, Hinojosa, and Suave.
“It feels good to qualify in multiple events, it makes me happy,” Hinojosa said. “I really wish I would have qualified for an individual event, it would have felt a little more special. But there’s always next year for that.”
