The girls softball team had a difficult season but played tough against many tough league opponents.
The girls season started off with a major loss against Allen Park, losing 16-1. But the defeat didn’t last long. The team went on to earn 2 big wins, beating Edsel Ford in a 16-0 shutout and crushing Taylor, 16-6.
“We were a little mad about losing by 15 points and I think that really gave us motivation to win our next game,” sophomore second baseman, Summer Gregoria said.
The Bears went on to lose their next three games however, falling to Carlson, Woodhaven and Trenton. Their very next game against Trenton they lost again although it was a very tight game with Trenton only winning 5-4.
“As a team we need to get better at keeping the score closer, like we did in that Trenton game,” junior outfielder Maddi Rushlow said.
The girls went on to get two wins against Edsel Ford and Taylor, Taylor being a close game with Wyandotte pulling ahead and winning 7-6. They lost their next three games, including their last game which was a 17-2 loss to Allen Park.
The Bears played their pre-district game on May, 31 2022. They won their game against Southgate winning with a shutout, 4-0. They will play their next round of districts on Saturday, June 4.
